Currency Shell Ring Necklace

Papua New Guniea and Mauritania

20th C. or Earlier

15.5” long,   Shell Rings: 1.5” to 2.25”

The shell rings have soft edges and are smooth from use. Complimented by the textural element of the hand knotted cord.  There are two types of currency shells used in the rings, the three large pieces are giant clamshell and the smaller, wider rings are conus shell. Painstakingly hand knotted cord and closure with an antique Mauritanian, clamshell bead clasp.
