Large Yoni

Late 19th C.

Thick Hand Beaten Copper

20” L x 10” W x 3.5” H - (cm 59 L x 25.5 W x 9 H)

The sinuous form of this very large yoni is a symbol of the Hindu goddess, Shakti, who embodies divine procreative energy.  It is feminine and sensual with a touch of aggression.  The shape is of a stylized womb and the small interior bump, symbolizing a lingam, is a representation for Shiva, Shakti’s consort.
