Green Turban Shell, Cane, Pigment

7.5" W x 14.5" H x 6" D

This beguiling Talipoon was used to help secure a wife for young Boiken males.  Located in the Prince Alexander Mountains, the Boiken culture is known for, amoung other classic imagery, their complex and other worldly basketry masks.  As unusual as these images are in our culture, they are friendly and curious, running the gamut from playful to wildly imaginative. Some losses and repairs.
