What makes this skirt unusual, and especially charming, is the house woven into a customary geometric pattern.  Traditionally, among some Cameroon groups, women wore modesty aprons. In 1961, the government passed regulations that required women to be fully clothed.  Today the tradition continues for ceremonies, rituals and rites of passage.
